“Dr. Amol Padegaonkar was interested in the field of surgery since childhood and it was his dream since then. This led him to select biology stream and joined Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences, Bilaspur for pursuing MBBS. During MBBS, he decided to opt for surgery for post-graduation and did his post-graduation in General Surgery from Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College College, Raipur. During post-graduation, he started developing special interest in oncology and later he pursued his career in this speciality. He did his DNB Surgical Oncology from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute, Mumbai. He had cleared all steps of National Board of Examinations from DNB Super speciality entrance to exit in 1st attempt. He also completed his Super speciality sub specialization (fellowship in Head and Neck oncology) from HCG Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad.
At present, he is practicing Consultant in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Apollo Hospitals, Bilaspur since 2019. His practice focuses on solid tumour management and works in conjunction with Medical and Radiation Oncologists for better management of cancer patients. He currently has 8 publications in various journals and many papers under review process. He has presented many papers and videos in various conferences.
Dr. Amol is particularly known for his patience, dedication and attention to minute details of each individual case. He has particular interest in breast cancer where he focuses on performing breast conservation surgery in as many patients as possible. During residency days, he has seen many female patients developing lymphedema of arm because of radical axillary lymph node dissection procedure. This made him develop interest in performing sentinel lymph node biopsy and has credit of performing highest number of this procedure in the state of Chhattisgarh. His another area of interest is head and neck malignancies with special focus on cosmetic and functional reconstruction. He hopes to continue to use advanced medical and surgical skills in order to deliver best of services in the field of surgical oncology. His chief ambition is to improve patient outcomes and motivate the next generation of surgeons with state of art work.”
