Dr.R.Gayathri received her Ph.D. degree in Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University, College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai. She has teaching and research experience of over 23 years in Electronics and Communication Engineering. She loves to learn and teach cutting-edge techniques in Signal Processing related subjects. As a part of her Ph.D., she worked on “Performance Analysis on Multimodal Biometric System based Authentication”. Her research includes Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, VLSI Signal Processing, Remote Sensing and Machine Learning for video analytics with a focus on human tracking, multi-resolution video processing, biologically-inspired spatial-temporal filtering, hyperspectral image processing, Natural language processing, etc., She is a recognized supervisor of Anna University and currently guiding nine research scholars (Ph.D.) at Anna University, Chennai. She has received and successfully completed the ISRO respond funded project titled “Design and Implementation of High-Performance Hyperspectral Target Detection system using FPGA ” in 2019. “Gesticulation Based Smart surface with enhanced Biometric security using Raspberry Pi internally funded (by SVCE Educational Trust) project. The Principal Investigator has published 50 research papers that are indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded with Clarivate Analytics, Thomson Reuters, Scopus, and Google Scholar (240 citations, 9 h-index, and 9 i-10 indexes). Three scholars completed their Ph.D. under her guidance. Currently, six research scholars are working under her guidance. She has been invited as the keynote speaker for more than 20 events in many technical workshops, conferences and guest speakers. She has organized many technical events like workshops, faculty development programs and conferences at the national and international levels. She is the recipient of the Global Teacher Award 2021 from the AKS Education Awards. She has been serving as an Active Reviewer in Measurement journal, Elsevier, Imaging Science Journal, Taylor & Francis Ltd, England, Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, IOS Press, Netherlands, British Journal of Mathematics and Computer Science, Journal of Computer Sciences, American Journal of Applied Science, Inderscience Journal, Journal of Sensors and IEEE conferences, Springer, British Journal of Mathematics and Computer Science, Journal of Computer Sciences, etc. She has been honoured as an Academic Editor of “The Asian Journal of Research in Computer Science” and as an Academic Editor of “The DECENT Journals” of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She has mentored many undergraduate and postgraduate research students in computer vision and data science projects.
