Dr Rita S Patil is Associate Professor and Head, department of Food and Nutrition at Maniben Nanavati Women’s College. She is the Vice Principal and a capable administrator. She has more than 25 years of teaching experience. IN 2019 she has been awarded the “Teachers Day Award” by IHM, Pune. She has also been felicitated by the college for her outstanding contribution in “Research and Education”. Dr Patil is a research guide and has guided students who have won prizes at research competitions. She is innovative and passionate about her subject. As a teacher, she encourages students to participate in cooking competitions and helps them to improve their work. Dr Rita Patil has published many papers in National and International (Ecology of Food and Nutrition), journals of repute. She has written a book- Fun Filled Fitness for Kids and also has chapters in books. Dr Patil has research presentations to her credit. She has been invited as a resource person and has been chairperson at many National and International conferences. Dr Rita Patil is Joint secretary of Indian Dietetic Association, Mumbai chapter. She is Treasurer of Indian Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (IAPEN), Mumbai chapter. Dr Patil has a membership of following national and international bodies:
1. International Society of Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHAD).
2. Life member of All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity (AIAARO).
3. Life member of Nutrition Society of India.
4. Life member of Association of Food Scientists and Technologists of India.
She has completed a Minor Research Project ‘Nutritional Status of the Indian Elderly: Determinant Factors in a Metropolitan city of Mumbai’. Funded by UGC. She has been on the panel as reviewer of research papers for the International Journal of Development Origins in Health and Disease (DOHAD) and the International Journal Public Health and Nutrition of Cambridge journals online. Dr Patil has presented papers at National/ International Conferences in India and abroad.
