Dr Bhagwat Saran Asati

Dr. Bhagwat Saran Asati started service as a Lecturer (Horticulture) at Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Grampodaya Vishwavidyalaya, Chitrakoot (Satna) MP from 23rd August, 2007 to 08th April, 2008. Then he got selected as Scientist/ Assistant Professor (Horticulture) in Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Raipur from 08 April, 2008. Now he is working as Assistant Professor/Scientist (Vegetable Science) in College of Agriculture & Research Station, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Chhuikhadan, Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh).
He taught graduate & post graduate courses & guided M.Sc. students. He has also engaged as course teacher of UG and PG courses in Horticulture subject. He is associated in more than 25 projects (ICAR, IGKV, State Govt, Central Govt, NABARD, Jila Panchayat etc) as member, Co-PI and PI for conducting research, training and extension activities under horticultural crops. During academic period, he has attended and presented many papers in National and International seminars (Philippines and South Africa). Dr Asati also published many research papers (48), popular articles (65), leaflets/folder (25), books (05), practical manuals (06), extension bulletins (15). He is also life and annual member of many magazines/Journals.
Over the past eight years, Dr Asati has been doing excellent research in drumstick and collected the highest 240 types of germplasm from various places of India. This is the largest collection in India. An innovative approach, he started Moringa Day on 18/08/2017 to create awareness about munaga cultivation and its value addition. He has developed many Moringa villages like Nathunagaon, Nawagaon, Bharregaon, Dhamansara in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh state to promote drumstick cultivation. He has also developed many nutri rich various biofortified products of moringa i.e. (moringa tea, ready to cook moringa pulao, moringa cookies, moringa bread, moringa toast, read to eat moringa poha, moringa capsules, Moringa chocolate, moringa muffin, moringa tablets, moringa soup, moringa drink, moringa capsule etc., which will be helpful to solve malnutrition problems of weaker sections.
Under his guidance many farmers of the state were awarded as Progressive Farmers by IARI, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh Government and Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur. He has also got appreciation and award from different Institution as: Best oral and poster presentation, Bhumi Nirman Award-2000, Young Scientist Award-2008, Young Scientist Associate Award-2010, Outstanding Scientist Award-2016 and Scientist of the Year-2019.”
